Seculert has reported that 45000 Facebook login details have been stolen by hackers with the help of Ramnit. The worm attacks Windows exe files, MS Office files and HTML files.
Ramnit also infects other files to steal the user names, passwords, browser cookies and enables hackers to access the computer for malicious actions.
Seculert found a server with 45000 stolen Facebook accounts out of which mostly belong to UK and France. Hackers post link on a user’s account on Facebook that activates Ramnit upon clicking on it, further spreading of Ramnit made possible with such action.
Lots of reports are coming about hackers turning towards social networks since people are present there now a day. Recently, a Social spam has also been reported to attack Twitter and Facebook and both social networks are developing special task teams to counter the threat.
These threats are increasing everyday and it is putting our private data at risk. Something should quickly be done.
