“You may have won the battle, but will not win the war”…is the dialogue I still remember from Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings.
The same case has occurred with SOPA and PIPA’s freeze (at the moment) that has been imposed by Lamar Smith and Harry Reid, respectively. “It is clear that we need to revisit the approach on how best to address the problem of foreign thieves that steal and sell American inventions and products,” Smith said in a statement.
The decision came after Wednesday’s huge protest from Google, Facebook, Twitter, and other smaller sites. Wikipedia shut down its service for 24 hours in a response to these two bills, followed the online encyclopedia were Reddit.com and BoingBoing.com.
“I am optimistic that we can reach a compromise in the coming weeks,” Reid said.
This halt in the progression of SOPA and PIPA might be an alarm to upcoming twister.
