I can’t get it to my head either Google is really that unsafe and uncivil to use such practices that endanger users’ privacy and its own goodwill, or is it just a secret campaign to let down the Internet giant.
Google’s new privacy policy has been under discussion in recent months. Just like Twitter, SafeGov, and other companies criticized the overhaul of privacy policy by Google, Federal Trade Commission didn’t appreciate the Safari breach from the Internet search giant and in a result of suspicion FTC has opened an investigation into it.
According to report appeared on Bloomberg on Friday FTC is examining whether Google embedded cookies in Apple’s Safari in order to target the ads or not, further the violation of a consent decree is also being probed.
Google singed the consent decree with FTC last year, planting cookies into Safari without the consent of users clearly violates that certain decree.
A spokesman from Google said the planting of cookies was only done to develop a connection between users using Safari and Google servers to check whether they are logged-in to Google and to other content. In a response to FTC’s investigation he added “We will of course cooperate with any officials who have questions.”
No official from FTC has made a comment on this matter.
