StillFly e1334772451119 StillFly Is A Nightmare For Illegal Waste Dumpers
Some time back I had imagined Italy as neat and clean as Sweden, Finland, and Norway. But thanks to Google Maps I found it no different than third world countries where slum filth on roadsides. I don’t deem the whole Italy is like that but at the part I have seen via Maps.

To cope with the environmental abuse Massimiliano Lega has built an eco friendly drone that flies over the coasts to discern the illegal dumping of waste into the sea.

StillFly, built in Parthenope University of Naples, has GPS sensors, 3D vision system with infrared camera, and three accelerometers. Due to the compact design of StillFly it only weighs 2Kg.

Lega’s drone has already caused a tanker two days of detention for dumping harmful material into the fresh water of sea. To keep our surroundings clean I guess drones like this are essential in every country of the world because monitoring every inch of the ground by employing human force is impossible. And, Italy must have many of these.

Prolific StillFly is likened by NASA and has asked its makers to bring the technology to the US.
