Scientists at Daikin Industries are busy developing a special coating that can be applied to smartphones’ circuit boards to protect it from water and moisture. It is achieved by mixing fluoropolymer, which is nonflammable and has less toxicity level, in a fluorinated solvent.
The resulted solvent can also be used on mesh. It is 0.1-1 micron thick, and dries within one minute after applying. Certainly, it can save your smartphone from accidental dips but it doesn’t promise that you leave your gadgets in water for a long time.
This waterproof coating is, indeed, made for raising current standards of waterproof coatings.
It maker hopes to release it by the end of this year.
