Dr. Kenneth O, who is the Professor of Electrical Engineering at University of Texas at Dallas, is leading a team of researchers to work on a potential technology that would enable future smartphones to see through object such as wall.
Is it going to be another spy tech in future?
The lead researcher is exploiting the usability of unused electromagnetic spectrum in a conjunction with CMOS chip to build this technology.
Dr. O said, “The terahertz (electromagnetic spectrum) range is full of unlimited potential that could benefit us all…The combination of CMOS and terahertz means you could put this chip and receiver on the back of a cellphone, turning it into a device carried in your pocket that can see through objects.”
He mentioned that the application of their work is beyond thinking as they have also not explored it yet, wholly.
