Nook Tablet Nook Lures Microsoft To Buy A Stake In Barnes & Noble
I think Microsoft had seen it coming from comScore that names Kindle Fire the best Android tablet available in the market. The Redmond company has decided to experiment in the emerging e-book business by investing $300 million into Barnes & Noble’s Nook. The tablet has garnered 27% market share in the line of digital books readers.

By creating a new subsidiary, Newco, which will cost $1.7 billion Microsoft will hold 17.6% stake in it whereas the primary operation will be run by B&N.

Experts are viewing it as a strategic investment rather as a financial one, it will benefit both companies: Window 8 will make a jump start in e-books and B&N will have a partner with deeper pockets to expand its tablet business outside US.
