Ever since the advent of cellphones, our bodies have started jet lagging on their own. We stay up nights playing games and sleep thru the day if possible or end up dragging ourselves to work or college. If we narrow down the search to single user games, in the olden days, it used to be snakes on our Nokia. Simple but it would keep you busy for hours. Let’s take a look at what is keeping people up all night these days.
Temple Run: Though you have to sit up to play it properly because of the gyroscope functions, but every time you fall you tend to start running again. The urge to go further never ends. You always think; it was a fluke I will sure go further in this try and hence ends the night.

Angry Birds: A revenge based game, I think that’s what keeps you going. And once you have finished all levels, you become hell bent on improving your score. The skill level required is not so high, once you master the projectile, it’s a breeze.

Freecell: A lot of people are gonna scream that it is old. But seriously, card games never grow old. And I find them very addictive. Ever since windows Freecell, I am addict. I can play on and on thru the night. Do require a little use of grey cells but that keeps the interest high.

Bubble Popper/Shooter: Each and every kind, no skill level required, no grey matter required. You can do complex math equations in your head while playing and this is the biggest charm of this game. You never get bored until you start paying heed to the game, once you realize how pointless the game is, it becomes boring.

Sims: I cannot do justice to this topic without mentioning SIMS. A life simulation game, though one wonders why simulate life when one can live it. But that is completely beside the point. Days turn into nights and night becomes day but this game goes on. Since this game is in real time, it can give the player an illusion of a parallel life. The fact that it is an open ended game makes it even more interesting.

Any other game comes to your mind?
