We are accustomed of using a computer with two dimensional screen and are pretty satisfied with it. But now it looks like everything else, the future of desktop computing lies in 3D. A MIT student named Jinha Lee has developed a 3D computer interface that could become the future of laptops and desktop PCs.

Spacetop SpaceTop 3D Computer Wants to Bring 3D Computing to a Table Near You

The 3D computer made by Jinha Lee allows users to “reach inside” their computers and use their three dimensional computer using hand gestures. Users can move around documents, browse the internet, switch between applications using their hand movements. The 3D computer model features a transparent LED display that shows the user his or her hand, real keyboard placed under it and of course the interface that user can interact on. The computer is capable of tracking the movement of user’s eyes and can adjust the  interface’s angle according to the position of the eye. It has two built-in cameras that track the movements of the hand and make the interface respond according to them.

The interface does not always stay in the 3D mode on this computer and displays apps in 2D mode when user is typing or doing anything that requires 2D experience.

The 3D computer, which is named SpaceTop is currently under testing stages and it might take some time to get ready for the market. Also it would be interesting to see how market responds to such a device.
