laferrari Ferrari Chairman says his company wont make an electric car ever

Due to the high prices and environmental hazards of gasoline car manufacturers are looking for better ways of powering the passenger as well as sportscars by making them run on elecricity. In the recent past we have seen many electric as well as hybrid cars hitting the market, which have been received well by the users.

Now it seems like Ferrari, which is undisputedly one of the most respected car manufacturer of the world is not impressed as its Chairman Luca di Montezemolo has made it quite clear that his company won’t be producing an electric car – not until he is the Chairman of the company at least. This announcement comes as a blow to electric car advocates as Ferrari is a major car manufacturer.

Ferrari’s chairman, said that “we will never manufacture an electric car as long as I’m chairman,”,

Although Montezemolo isn’t a fan of the electric sportscars and says he won’t allow the company to make one it is important to note here that Ferrari recently announced LaFerrari, which is a hybird car and also makes use of the electric powertrain technology used in LaFerrari.

While Ferrari isn’t going electric until its current Chairman is leading it other companies such as Porsche has already started giving its customers taste of the future with its 918 Spyder plug-in hybrid with 777-horsepower. Another major company Lamborghini is also preparing a hybrid car for 2015. Audio and others are also on board.

Ferrari’s stance of not releasing electric cars is because of company’s traditions as it takes a lot of pride in its cars and releases limited number of them along with the ones that are only made for the race track. But the company will eventually have to change its stance as electric cars are apperantly the future and its competitors are already working to get ahead in the game.
