fibre internet Japanese company now offering 2Gbps Internet speeds to its users

Our thrust for faster internet speeds than we already have never ends and that is understandable as the amount of time we spend online the the size of content which includes movies, games, and other stuff keeps on increasing day by day. Internet has become an important part of our lives and is much more important to us now than it was a few years ago. Devices like tablets and smartphones have a big part in that transition as they have made Internet accessible to us no matter where ever we are.

Faster Internet speed we have heard of which was available to public was Google Fiber’s 1Gbps. When Google announced the Google Fiber service because it was providing extremely fast speeds to home users. Now it seems like one company from Japan has already beaten Google as it has announced an ultra fast Internet package for its users. The speed Japan’s Nuro is offering is 2Gbps down and 1Gbps up – which makes its Internet the fastest available to home users in the world.

Nuro is a company which is backed by Sony. It launched the fiber service for homes and offices on Monday and is available to users based in Tokyo and six nearby areas. Though Nuro’s 2Gbps Internet is the fastest available to home users right now Japan is already offering high Internet speeds in its urban areas with a quarter of households already using the fiber services that provide 1Gbps speeds – something Google is offering in Kansas City only and will soon offer it in Austin.

The high speed fiber Internet connections are fairly common in Japan’s urban Internet using population with company’s average going to 42.2 Mbps peak speeds.

Nuro is charging  ¥4,980 (US$51) a month on two year contract to its users – which seems affordable for someone who would want that kind of speed. Although the monthly fee is affordable enough Nuro charges one time installation fee is ¥52,500 (US$535) to new users however it is waived to users who apply online through its website.

With Japan enjoying such high speeds of 1Gbps and 2Gbps it is inevitable that these high speeds will eventually arrive in other parts of the world and we too will be download GBs of data from the Internet in a few seconds time in a not so distant future.
