BBM for iPhone makes its official debut, Android version is imminent too

Something that was considered impossible just a few years ago has finally happened. The official BBM app for iPhone has been released in the App Store and is now available for download. While the iOS version is out now the BBM app for Android is also going to become available in next few hours. Once the apps are available to download users of both these popular mobile platforms will be able to use the popular service and chat with their friends and family who have Blackberry, iOS and Android devices.

BBM for iPhone packs a lot of great features that made the service so great on the Blackberry platform. The app allows users to send messages to their friends as well as share photos, voice notes and URLs. Using BBM for iPhone and Android smartphone users can also create groups as well as join the ones created by others. In the groups they can share pictures, appointments and of coarse chat with each other.

The app also has a ‘Multi-chat’ feature that allows users to invite multiple people from their contact list to chat at one place and share ideas and stories with each other.

BBM for iPhone makes its official debut, Android version is imminent too

The BBM app for iPhone and Android just like the Blackberry version offers users reports about the status of their messages telling them whether their message has been delivered or not. It can also inform the user whether the message has been read by the receiver or not. Another useful feature of the app enables users to know when other people are responding to their messages. So if your friend is typing his or her message you will know through the on-screen indicator. Emoticons are an essential part of the chatting experience and BBM supports it too.

One of the most useful features of BBM for iPhone and Android is the broadcast feature. Using this feature users can send messages to multiple contacts at once. So if you are hosting a party and want to invite multiple people just send a broadcast message to selected or all of your contacts at once. This makes sending one message to multiple receivers super easy.

BBM features profiles as well so you can create one for yourself complete with a profile photo and status that will let your contacts know of your mood and help them recognize you. You can set avatars and GIFs images as your profile picture too.

One of the greatest features of BBM service on Blackberry devices is that it is very secure and gives complete control of everything to the user. Same is true for the iOS and Android versions. It features the 2-way opt-in feature. Also it lets users invite other people via PIN/QR making it more convenient for them as they don’t have to share their email address or phone number with everyone.

On the iTunes description page Blackberry has promised that BBM Channels, BBM Voice and BBM Video features will soon be making their way to the iOS app. We hope same is true for the Android version that has yet to hit the Play Store.

You can download . It is currently not available in all App Stores so you will have to wait if its not available in yours right now.

We will update this post as soon as Android version is available too.
